We are now reaching the peak time for registration upon arrival at Chinese universities.Here are some tips and preparations you may care about before your departure.
Tip 1
In order to protect the safety of international students during your stay here, all international students should have medical insurance. The cost is RMB 400-800 for one year.
Tip 2
browse your own city.Find all the information you may want to know, including weather, climate, local cuisine and transportation, travelling tips etc..
Tip 3
If you need airport pick-up service (Wuhan Tianhe International Airport), please contact service@ciss.org.cn . Some universities offer an airport pick-up service. CISS can arrange this for you. If the university doesn’t offer an airport pick-up service, CISS will arrange the airport pick-up for international students and help them register in the university successfully. (This requires an additional fee, and is limited to Wuhan).
Tip 4
Once you've arrived, you'll have to register with both the university and the local authorities. If you live on campus, the university will register you with the local police. If you choose to rent an apartment off-campus, you may have to go to the police station with your landlord. If you hold an X visa (i.e. you are staying in China for longer than 6 months), you must then apply for a Residence Permit within 30 days of entering China. Registration procedures are outlined below. Bear in mind, this is a rough guide only. Actual procedures will vary.
Tip 5
When you first arrive, it is a good idea to take some cash that you can exchange upon arrival at the airport. You can also change money at a bank (you’ll have to present your passport). It is possible to exchange money into RMB before you arrive in China, but not all banks or money exchangers will be able to and the exchange rate will be unfavorable. Only go through official channels to exchange money or you will almost certainly be cheated.
